|  It seems one of the first female racers, Shirely Muldowney "The First Lady of Racing" will be inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Ocala, Florida, Thursday May 16, 2006. Ms. Muldowney will be inducted during a ceremony and banquet at the Paramount Resort in Gainesville, Fla.
Shirley Muldowneys as a pioneer in drag racing has a list of drag racing accomplishments that would be quite long. Her achievements include first women licensed to drive a Top Fuel dragster, first motorsport personality to be honored by United States Congress with an Outstanding Achievement Award, the first women to win a NHRA professional event, first person, mal or female to win two and then a third subsequently NHRA World Championships and the list goes on and on of her awards.
Ms. Muldowney retired from driving drag racers at the end of the 2003 seeason, but is currently the team sponsor relations representative for Kalitta Motorsports' StriVectin-SD Top Fuel dragster team. When Ms. Muldowney is working the various tracks throughout the season she is sought out by fans for her autographs. Shirley works with driver Dave Grubnic as quarter mile ambassador for Kalitta Racing.
"It's always an honor to be recognized for what we did on the race track," Muldowney said. "It's something we will always take pride in because we know we always gave our absolute best out there."
Shirley is married to Rahn Tobler who works as the crew chief on Kalitta Motorsports Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster. Doug Kalitta drives Rahn's rcae ready dragsters in the NHRA Powerade Drag Race Series.
