2006 Honda Civic SI Is a Step UpThe 2006 Honda Civic SI is finally taking a step in the right direction. The styling is a little more aggressive, but maintains the econobox image for the older crowd. The new 2006 Civic SI isn't the same econobox as past generations though.
| Do you remember when the Acura Integra Type-R was a "big" deal for cranking out 180 horses?! Well, the 2006 Honda Civic SI isn't intimidated by the "Hype"-R any longer. For 2006, the Civic SI gets a very respectable 197 horsepower @ 7,800 RPM. While still not even close to being one of the faster cars on the road - the affordable price and strong aftermarket following will surely drive sales of the new 2006 Civic SI through the roof.

For those of you who are Civic Hatchback fans - sorry. The 2006 Civic SI isn't available in hatchback form, but here are some other things that might still inspire you to drive one.
The 06 Civic SI has a 6 speed manual transmission....long overdue. If that doesn't impress you, perhaps the Limited Slip Differential that is also included will. Still not impressed? Honda topped it all off with a short-shift clutch setup - reducing the throw distance of the shifter, and firming up the clutch pedal pressure for a more aggressive feel. Overall, the 2007 Civic SI rubs me in all the right places... now to see how much power the new drive-line can take by throwing a turbo and gobs of power at it - it will be done. |
