2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 Gets Outdone by Chevy's Corvette?!The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 is disigned similarly to the Dodge Vipers of the past. The oh so sleek wrap around tail lights, vented hood, and aggressive body lines give the 2006 Viper SRT10 the same amount of intimidation factor as its previous models.
| The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 has a hard top now for superior handling and a more rigid feel. There is also a double bubble in the hard top to allow for head/helmet room. The 2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 is packing the same amount of power as its prior models, at a respectable 500 HP and 525 ft/lbs of torque.

So the 2006 Dodge Viper wasn't changed very much from previous years. This has been okay for the Viper in the past, because it has been in a class of its own on the performance end. This time around things may pan out differnt.
The Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 looks like it is going to be on top of the Viper in 2006. The C6 puts out only a few more ponies, and quite a bit less torque - but it is still a very light weight car. The viper is a bit heavy to compete with the Corvette's similar power output.
Competition isn't a bad thing though. Hopefully this will motivate Dodge to improve the Viper in future years. I never thought the day would come when a stock Corvette would put a stock Viper to shame. It's right around the corner now... look out Viper fans. |
